Bidadi sits on the Bangalore-Mysore corridor in Ramanagara district, roughly 30 km from the city centre. It is an industrial township on Bangalore's southwestern edge, known for its Toyota plant and steady job market, with improving road links and affordable housing drawing working families and investors. The town's industrial identity runs deep: the automobile manufacturer Toyota has its subsidiary unit Toyota Kirloskar Motors located in Bidadi, alongside other major industries such as Bosch, Britannia and Coca-Cola.
Despite its factory-town roots, Bidadi has a slower, older character too. Bidadi was known for traveler's coffee, dosas and tatte idli, and the rural town has witnessed large-scale growth with international capital and tourists, making it an ever-growing urban space that connects Bangalore and Mysore. This mix of industry, food culture and open land is now attracting large-format residential development.
The biggest shift is structural: government planners have long earmarked the belt for a mega township. Driven by a narrative reimagining it as a planned urban township, the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority identified Bidadi as a pilot site for integrated township development covering approximately 10,000 acres. More recently, this has evolved into the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township (GBIT) plan, with the GBIT in Bidadi seen as a massive infrastructural shift designed to decentralize Bengaluru's tech and manufacturing sectors, with integration into the STRR and Expressway expected to inject capital appreciation into the Ramanagara-Bidadi corridor.
On portals tracking real-time demand, Bidadi already shows healthy traction: it is ranked 138 among 1,100 localities in Bangalore, with a connectivity rating of 4.5 and an education and healthcare rating of 4.1. With Prestige Group entering via a large integrated township, the locality is moving from an industrial satellite to a planned residential address.
Bidadi's location on the Bangalore-Mysore corridor, combined with upcoming metro and rail projects, is reshaping its accessibility to the rest of Bengaluru.
Bidadi already has a base of schools, clinics and leisure destinations, with bigger institutions along Mysore Road within easy reach.
