Bidadi's long wait for a direct metro connection has moved from wish-list to working proposal. The Purple Line currently extends up to Challaghatta, and the next logical expansion proposed under Phase 4 is toward Bidadi, an important industrial and manufacturing hub. The proposed route includes a 15-kilometer extension from Challaghatta to Bidadi along the Purple Line. For a town long defined by its factories and highway traffic, a metro spur would be a genuine infrastructure upgrade rather than just another announcement.
The Bidadi corridor is not an isolated ask — it sits inside a much larger Phase 4 vision. Bangalore Metro Phase 4 is an ambitious expansion project covering 129 km, aiming to extend metro connectivity to suburban areas such as Bidadi, Harohalli, Attibele, and Kunigal Cross. The BMRCL's plan includes a new metro line and extensions of the existing Purple and Green lines in four directions: Bidadi (Mysuru Road), Harohalli (Kanakapura Road), Attibele (Hosur Road), and Kunigal Cross (Tumakuru Road, near Nelamangala). This puts Bidadi in the same conversation as some of Bengaluru's fastest-growing peripheral corridors.
Getting here required a formal first step. BMRCL took the first step towards extending the Namma Metro network to Bidadi in Ramanagara district by issuing a tender for a feasibility study. Feasibility studies typically examine ridership potential, alignment options, and land acquisition — the groundwork every metro line needs before it can be costed and approved.
Despite the planning activity, homebuyers should be clear-eyed about where this stands today. Phase 4 is still in feasibility studies with no central government approval yet. Compare that to the pace of Bengaluru's other corridors: Phase 3A was approved by the Karnataka Finance Department in November 2024 at ₹28,405 crore, one of India's most expensive metro corridors due to mixed elevated and underground alignment. Phase 4, including the Bidadi arm, hasn't reached that stage of financial or central sanction.
That gap matters for anyone timing a purchase around metro news. For homebuyers, Phase 3 corridors—particularly the Orange Line and Red Line—offer more near-term connectivity benefits, while Phase 4 should be viewed as a speculative long-term play suitable only for investors with patient capital and 5+ year horizons. Real estate momentum, however, is already visible on the ground. Corridors such as Hoskote, Bidadi, Harohalli, Sarjapur, Attibele, and Tumkur are already witnessing rapid infrastructure development and increased real estate activity.
Metro isn't the only rail conversation around Bidadi. Long before Namma Metro plans existed, the DULT drew up plans to connect Bangalore with Kengeri, Hejjala, Bidadi, Ramanagar, KR Puram, Whitefield and Malur on two separate railway lines under an earlier suburban rail vision. The current Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project's active corridors run through Yeshwantpur, Yelahanka, and Devanahalli toward the airport, so Bidadi's suburban rail link remains a separate, longer-term ask rather than a funded, under-construction line today.
What does this mean on the ground in Bidadi itself? The town sits on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway corridor, with the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway reducing travel time dramatically, Bidadi is fast transforming from an industrial pocket into a promising residential hub. An active industrial belt with factories like Toyota, Bosch, Britannia, and Coca-Cola sits 3 to 8 km from the town centre, giving the area a genuine employment base rather than pure speculative growth. The distance from Bangalore City Junction (Majestic area) to Bidadi is 32 km by road, and the drive usually takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic on Mysore Road and the expressway. A metro connection would meaningfully cut that commute time and reduce dependence on an already congested Mysore Road.
For now, the sensible takeaway for homebuyers is to track this as a long-horizon infrastructure story, not an immediate trigger. The feasibility study, DPR submission, state cabinet approval, and central government sanction are sequential steps that other Bengaluru corridors have taken years to clear. Bidadi's industrial base and expressway access already support real estate demand independent of the metro outcome — the Purple Line extension, if and when it clears approvals, would be an additional upside rather than the sole reason to buy.
