Yellow Line Metro Arrives at Jayadeva Hospital

South Bengaluru's oldest planned residential neighbourhood just got a serious upgrade in transit infrastructure. The Yellow Line was officially inaugurated on 10 August 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the line opening for public use the following day. Running from RV Road to Bommasandra, the corridor now gives residents of Jayanagar, BTM Layout, and surrounding pockets a direct rail link to Electronics City and the southern IT belt.

At the heart of this upgrade is the Jayadeva Hospital station, sitting right at Jayadeva Junction on the BTM Layout Stage 2 side of Jayanagar. This is a double-elevated interchange metro station on the north-south corridor of the Yellow Line and the Pink Line, and the first multi-elevated interchange station in the Namma Metro network. The station takes its name from a well-known medical landmark: it is named after Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research.

While the Yellow Line platforms here have been operational since the network's launch, the Pink Line side is still being fitted out. Pink Line platforms, connecting Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, are currently under construction and are expected to be operational, creating a stacked interchange. Once both lines are live, Jayadeva Hospital will function as a genuine multi-directional hub rather than a single-line stop.

Jayanagar residents themselves have flagged this trend before, with one local homeowner noting that metro connectivity has increased the real-estate value and people are ready to pay more to stay close to a Metro station.

Jayanagar's underlying fundamentals only add to the case. The original master plan, with spacious layouts and a focus on greenery, continues to attract buyers, while limited supply from restricted new construction in established areas keeps existing inventory valuable. Add a stacked two-line metro interchange to that mix, and the locality's appeal to end-users and investors alike only strengthens.
